5 Steps I Took to Build an Ecommerce Dropshipping Business from $0 to $200k

Finding Winning Products to Sell

One of the first things I did was find and list multiple popular products that I knew would sell. Many beginners make the mistake of only selling one product, hoping it will make them rich. With most of my stores, I’ve sold multiple products at once to generate revenue and profit.

To find winning products, I use a tool like AutoDS. Their Marketplace shows trending products that are successful. I sort products by “Most Likes” to see what’s popular. If a product has gone viral on TikTok with millions of likes and shares, it’s probably a winning product.

AutoDS also shows the potential profit, target audience, and stores selling the product. I can see how successful stores are structured and compete with them. Using a tool like this, I can find and instantly list winning products with a few clicks. You can sign up for AutoDS’s 30-day free trial via the link in the description.

Building Your Business on Solid Foundations

The second thing I did was build my business on solid foundations. This means choosing a brandable domain name, securing the domain, and having a long-term mindset. Many have a “get rich quick” mindset, trying to make $10,000 in a couple of days. Treat your store like a real business, focus on the next 1-5 years, not a couple of months.

I also always use Shopify. It’s simple to get started and has apps to help your business. They often run promotions like using any plan for just $3 for 3 months. The basic plan suits most dropshippers and is $29/month after the trial. Shopify has the features and tools to build your business on solid foundations.

Utilizing Google Ads

The third thing I did was utilize Google Ads. I use Google Shopping Ads to target people searching for my products. The chances of getting sales are much higher because I’m reaching interested customers.

For example, Google Trends shows people search for “baby carrier” worldwide. This indicates the potential to get dropshipping sales for this product. On Google Shopping, I see many Shopify stores and dropshippers selling baby carriers through ads.

To set up Google Shopping Ads, sign up for a Google Ads account. Click “New Campaign” and select “Sales” as the objective and “Shopping” as the campaign type. Choose “Standard Shopping Campaign.” Enter a campaign name, bidding strategy (I use “maximize clicks”), and daily budget (start low, increase as you get sales). Leave the network as “Google search” and location as one country. Review and create your campaign.

My strategy for using Google Shopping Ads and building Shopify stores is available at ShopifyProject.com. You can get a detailed understanding of the steps needed as a beginner dropshipper utilizing Google Ads.

Taking Action

The final step was simply taking action. Many beginners spend hours researching how to build a dropshipping business but never actually do anything. Making $200,000 came down to just doing it.

No matter what you want to do, whether it’s dropshipping, Amazon, or a 9-to-5 job, it comes down to taking the first step. Take massive action instead of getting stuck in “research mode.” My message is to just get started, no matter what goals or dreams you have.
