How to Start a Dropshipping Business with Shopify and CJ Dropshipping

In today’s blog post, I’m going to walk you through step by step everything you need to know regarding starting a dropshipping business using Shopify and CJ Dropshipping. For those new to my channel, my name is Sam, and I write blog posts to help people make money online. Most importantly, I’ve been able to quit my full-time job and travel the world while making money from my Shopify businesses. I’m sure I can point you in the right direction regarding dropshipping.

What is CJ Dropshipping?

For those unfamiliar with CJ Dropshipping, it is a supplier you can use to build a dropshipping business. They work as an agent by buying products in bulk directly from manufacturers and storing the inventory in their warehouses worldwide. It’s an easy way to get started with dropshipping. You can go to their website and scroll through many products to sell.

Step 1: Find a Product to Sell

The first step is finding a product on CJ Dropshipping worth selling. I have a process for product research to ensure I build a store around a viable product. Just because a product is cheap or available to dropship doesn’t mean it’s worth building a store around. You may waste time and make no money.

Here is my process:

  1. Go to CJ Dropshipping and select a warehouse. I target U.S. customers, so I choose the U.S. warehouse.
  2. Select a category to focus on like consumer electronics, home, and garden, etc. I’ll choose consumer electronics for this example.
  3. Scroll through products. For this example, I found a “Smart Mask Anti-Snoring Device” for $55.
  4. Ensure you can dropship from your chosen warehouse. For this product, the U.S. warehouse has 999 pieces available, so there is room to scale.
  5. Check the shipping time. This product takes 5 to 7 days to reach customers and provides tracking information to reduce customer inquiries.
  6. Do further research to ensure people are searching for and buying the product. I use Amazon to check if people are spending money on similar items.

For the Smart Mask, a Helium 10 tool shows nearly $5 million was spent on items containing the keyword “snoring mask” in 30 days on Amazon.com alone. This indicates it’s a winning product to dropship.

After finding a product to dropship, sign up for a Shopify account. Shopify is a great platform for building an e-commerce store with many useful features. Currently, you can start a free trial by paying only $1 for three months.

Step 2: Build Your Shopify Store

There’s a lot that goes into building a store like designing the store, adding pages like terms of service, shipping policy, etc. I have a course that shows how I build stores and generate sales.

For this overview, after starting your free Shopify trial, you need to connect your store to CJ Dropshipping using an app called AutoDS. This app automatically transfers product info from CJ Dropshipping to your store with a few clicks.

To use AutoDS:

  1. Sign up for a 30-day free AutoDS trial through my link below.
  2. Connect AutoDS to your Shopify store by clicking “Add app.”
  3. Add products by clicking “Add products” and “Single product.”
  4. Paste the product URL from CJ Dropshipping into AutoDS. For example, I pasted the Smart Mask product page URL.
  5. Ensure the region is set to the U.S. and click “Edit product.”
  6. The product draft will load into your AutoDS account. Review and edit details like the title, description, images, price, etc. AutoDS pulls the info from the product page, so you can easily edit it.
  7. Click “Save and import” to add the product to your store.

The product will be live on your store for customers to purchase. AutoDS will automatically fulfill orders, ship products to customers, and provide tracking info to customers.

AutoDS makes the dropshipping process much easier by automatically importing products to your store and fulfilling orders. The 30-day free trial is a great way to try the service. My link is below.
